Excellent, but also appropriately priced.

Food, service, ambience and a wine list that really impresses. These are the reasons why the 959 has become our favorite restaurant in Heidelberg. Tristan Brandt cooks at star level (nothing surprising when you know what he has conjured up for years in Opus V) and otherwise ensures that everything is perfect. The service is friendly and competent at the same time and the wine selection is simply legendary. It's really fun to talk to Justin (a sommelier who really rocks, in the narrower as well as in the broader sense) about wines from all over the world and then keep discovering how little you have a clue! Always an experience. Incidentally, also a pleasure at lunchtime, then with a simpler choice of dishes / menu that leaves little to be desired. Ah, and before I forget: This will probably be the only restaurant review where I really have to write something about the toilet: simply beautiful !!!! :-)

Heidelberg finally has an attraction for all the senses. Ambience on a level that even cosmopolitans get their money's worth. And the taste buds close their eyes to indulge in the taste ... A big thank you to the kitchen and the great service.

The two of us recently went to eat at the 959. The food was well prepared and very tasty, I had tuna tartare and then pasta with chanterelles. The wine list was okay and extensive, but there could be more German white wines on it. What I didn't like that much was the service. I found the sommelier not that attentive and friendly and the other staff were mediocre trained. It was a bit annoying that a gentleman was walking around and constantly inquiring whether everything was in order (he probably didn't do anything but walk from table to table and question the guests ...). The toilets were clean and very stylish, I found it a bit annoying that there were some fairy tales (Snow White was playing) instead of music. The bar inside looks awesome. What doesn't work at all: the waiters pull down their mouthguards with their hands when they talk to the guests and then grab plates again. Really an absolute no-go during pandemic times.

Beautiful terrace outside and beautiful bar inside. At lunch service is rather streched. At dinner fabulous fish soup and fabulously cooked cod and excellent service. Should have a more vegetarian/fish/seafood options as meat (eg Wiener Schnitzel) is nice but not special. Great aperitivs and everything very instagramable.

Great fine dining experience in Heidelberg! We a had a beautiful evening at 959 right after the Covid-19 lockdown and enjoyed everything single minute. The restaurant itself is absolutely stunning with great architecture and art. The restaurant bar is massive with an amazing selection of spirits. We skipped the tasting menu and picked some dishes a-la-carte. Every single plate was just beautiful and delicate. Our dessert was served in the next door smokers bar where you can enjoy the rest of the night with a cocktail in your hand. Great evening!

Great location, exciting food combinations, stylish presentation, superbly cooked ... Somewhat boring, but good wine accompaniment to the menu, can be made more interesting ... But it is definitely worth a visit. We'll be back ... colleague meeting on Monday ... ?

Super unfriendly staff .. wanted to see the ambience from the outside around 11 o'clock in the morning - an unfriendly “hey! Don't go in there! ”I stood 2m in front of the window pane and the gate to the outside area. I found it unfriendly and angry. A visit is no longer an option for me ... but it looks nice.

Thanks to a new tour by the new managing director of 2 star chef Tristan Brandt, the 959 has awakened to a new shine. Keep it up!

Service top. Ambience extraordinary. Food excellent. The fact that the Michelin Guide has not given a star here this year is simply scandalous.

A cosmopolitan restaurant in Heidelberg. Very special, friendly service, very good food and great ambient. Every time it was worth the money. Pitty that they removed the pizza from their menu.

One of the best 4-course meals I've ever had. Every dish was unbelievably flavourful and beautifully presented. This isn't one of those experimental restaurants with fussy and strange food combinations nor is it lovingly created comfort food. It's not "classic" either. It's seriously good, perfectly prepared and accessible - at a cost. All this served by an attentive and friendly staff in a brilliant space that's both comfortable and seriously elegant at the same time. Worth every euro. I walked past on the way to another restaurant. I went in because the space was so inviting. No reservation. I didn't even look at the menu before sitting down. I knew it would be good. This is a case where the book and the cover were absolutely in sync.

Excellent cuisine prepared by a friendly chef using the best ingredients. Great ambience and attentive service. Star-breaking.

It's an absolutely beautiful place, prices are high though, but worth it

An elegant and cozy restaurant. The quality of the food and wine is exceptional. The staff is very attentive and friendly. 5 stars are not enough for this restaurant.

We were on the occasion of my husband's birthday in this restaurant. We were very excited. Especially since there are higher prices, you get but also excellent food served. The ambience is also terrific. The service is discreetly friendly and very professional. We'll be back for the next important occasion

World class food in a great atmosphere!

Unfortunately very disappointing service. We had reserved a table outside, when we arrived no table was available on the terrace. So we went inside to have a drink, the waitress promised to give us the next available table outside. Once a table was empty we asked her to sit there, but it was given to another couple without any explanation. We will not come back.

We were there for the first time yesterday for dinner. We are very nice and accommodating received by the boss. There is only one thing to say about the restaurant: An atmosphere in which one can only feel good. Beautiful, stylish atmosphere with attention to detail. High quality materials, great lighting and a bar where you want to stay. Attentive service. A great wine list with selected wines that leave nothing to be desired. The food to the point, in an excellent quality and taste a dream. Who wants to spend a wonderful evening in a cool, stylish but comfortable atmosphere, is absolutely right here. WE WILL BE BACK

Although the food was excellent, the wine was good. The welcome was non existent, in fact quite rude. We felt there was a bit of an anti feeling but we stayed just to spite them!

Stayed in Heidelberg for the German Grand Prix and discovered 959 hidden in a leafy little park. Atmosphere, food, service all outstanding - so much so that we visited more than once during short stay.

We spent a lovely evening there, enjoyed a very delicious meal, were surrounded by very friendly and caring staff. Prices are reasonable. Definitely not our last visit.

Really noble ambience. Everything extremely high quality. Pizza comes to the point ? and the cocktails in the Pino Bar are great. The prices are comprehensible for this quality.

We were there on a Saturday evening and were received friendly. Rooms are very nicely decorated, the decoration and floor to ceiling bar is really nice. The food is, as many other reviews already written, quite expensive for Heidelberger standards, but really delicious. Wine selection is also very good. The card has been thinned out a bit, which is good for the quality. We would go again, anytime.

Pizza 19 Euro is on a Suisse Price Level tho is a bit overpriced for a Lunch Break water for 8 is a bit over the Top ( a bit less for a lunch break will help ) the pizza was excellent

I had the absolute pleasure to spend New Years Eve at this wonderful venue. The interior design is absolutely stunning, which instantly makes you feel welcome as soon as you enter the restaurant. The staff is very attentive and friendly. The menu was incredibly, accompanied with great wine choices recommended by the staff. I felt very well cared for and it was a wonderful way to start the new year. In my opinion this is a restaurant that Heidelberg really needed in a long time. I cannot wait for my next visit!

Awesome interior & atmosphere... but food way overpriced and not at par with the decor. Service was also that night absolutely catastrophic: waited 30mn for drinks, ordered twice the same cocktail but got 2 different ones, staff unable to answer most questions on the food or drinks...It could be or it can be a great restaurant in the the future, but there are a lot of things to change and improve. Good luck though. Would be happy to come back when it’s better because it’s a cool place.

This place looks great the interior designer did a wonderful job, but the prices are very high. The food is not worth the money and the staff is not friendly. I had a overpriced pizza which was very boring, I think that the frozen pizza of any shop is more exciting especially in price matter. The drinks are good. Toilets were ok. The seats are comfortable. The place has a strange atmosphere but ok. The staff is not attentive at all and the food took more then 37min. For me as a customer this is a no go. My friends had pastas and salad, which also were overpriced for the boring taste and mini quantities. I know 10better places to leave all your money in beautiful Heidelberg. I will definitely not come back.
